At the 30th Welser Puppet Theater Festival in 2022, the long-time favorite of the Welser audience, Matthias Kuchta (Lille Kartofler Puppet Theater), sparked a multi-year project on Holocaust remembrance culture. Inspired by the narrative game "Helga's Journey to Riga," about the life of the girl Helga Mayer, who died in the concentration camp, a class from Berufsschule 1 in Wels researched the life of the young Welser, Ilse Hand, who also perished in the concentration camp, and artistically realized this life story under artistic supervision. The resulting exhibition titled "I am Ilse, do not forget me!" was on display at the festival in 2022 and 2023. Now, this form of remembrance culture has had a far-reaching impact. The artistically and pedagogically developed concept of research, writing, and artistic implementation, developed in Wels, was once again implemented at the St. Georgen an der Gusen secondary school. The "Mühlviertel Hasenjagd (Hare Hunt)" from the perspective of victims, perpetrators, bystanders, resisters, and observers - a real-fictitious engagement with the events - an attempt at approximation. Students from the 4th grades of the St. Georgen an der Gusen secondary school dealt with the Nazi history of their homeland as part of their lessons, particularly with the "Mühlviertel Hasenjagd", a war crime in the final phase of World War II.
