Schäfer Thieme Produktion (D)
The Hamlet Case
Duration: 80 minutes
To be or not to be? Indeed, that is the tragedy. A young man finds himself between the millstones of power interests. An entire family annihilates itself. A revenge drama with puppets based on William Shakespeare.
Right in the middle of this drama is Prince Hamlet: Trying to break through the system of betrayal, intrigue, and distrust, he gets caught in the vicious circle of murder. However, this time things should be different: Hamlet must survive! Can't the course of fate be changed by chance or even by the smallest intervention?
The highly psychological drama, narrated by two gravediggers, is reduced to its basic conflicts like a chamber play, always anxious to curb the pathos of this piece of world literature. A collage about remembering, madness and truth and the many possibilities of life – which inevitably ends in death.
